Every time Kidd Fresh gets knocked down, he gets right back up again. And he’s been knocked down HARD.
Kidd Fresh arrived as part of JT Stahr’s crew of pro wrestlers known as Stahr Power. Their goal was to transform BWN into a pro wrestling fed. Towards that end, Fresh was sent in at a critical time in the company’s history when it was most in need of outside help to fight off the 404Life gang. Fresh played a pivotal role and BWN won. (404Life regained control later, but was ultimately defeated the second and final time by Storm’s Vendetta, which was completely separate from Kidd Fresh).
But Stahr Power was furious that Kidd Fresh, having helped BWN survive, then failed to defeat Snake in a match with the stipulation that the winner would be able to reshape BWN.
Had Fresh won, Stahr Power would have taken over. But he lost. That was the first time Kidd Fresh had ever lost.
Hurt, Fresh then took a beating from Cell who walked in (pictured at the top of this article) to serve him his karma for all of the guys he’d beaten on his rise up, including Cell. Injured and mostly unable to defend himself, the Kidd took a pounding from Cell and was left laid out.
But he persisted. He could have hobbled away, having failed his mission but instead he stayed at BWN…and proceeded to get destroyed by Crusher (who mistook him for Cain), battered by Xavier Cage who finally showed up as his Stahr Power backup only to argue about whose fault it was that Stahr Power failed, and then crushed by MDK in his effort to redeem himself by earning a shot at the Undisputed Champ Sword and winning it all.
In each of those instances, he failed. And failed badly. But he fought hard each time and gave it his all. It’s also worth noting that in each case he was fighting a much bigger man.
When he tried to attack former 404Life member Papi as the cause of all his problems, he suffered a stunning upset loss to Papi and was forced to honor the stipulation he himself had set: to be the winner’s servant.
Humiliated, Kidd Fresh quit BWN. But he quickly returned, regrouped, and was immediately attacked by April. Unaccustomed to April’s bizarre style, Fresh lost to him too.
But rather than complain or quit again, Kidd Fresh just took it as his punishment for having quit the first time and stayed on the active roster. He kept his little brother from joining BWN at the present time to protect him from The Freak Show.
In fact when TFS arrived, Kidd Fresh was one of the first to step to The Freak Show’s Stitch, certain that he’d defeat a man his own size, once again help fend off an invasion, and redeem himself.
But Stitch defeated him.
The loss to Stitch has haunted Kidd Fresh.
While others fell to The Freak Show left and right, Kidd Fresh went on a one-year-long rebuilding streak by issuing an open challenge to all independent pro wrestlers that responded to his challenge…and beat them all. Every single one.
Having rebuilt his credibility and gained some size to boot, Kidd Fresh faced one of the toughest fighters of his entire career in Joe Black, who recently came off a victory against the very man that Fresh wanted a rematch against: Stitch. Defeating Black would give Fresh the reboot he so urgently needed.
But he lost, after giving it everything.
The match was so close and so intense, however, that it was the first time in BWN history that an opponent actually thanked the loser for the match.
Now, once again exhausted and beaten after an epic war, Kidd Fresh is on the receiving end of Stahr Power’s Cleaner: Ghost!
The Cleaner was always a Stahr Power rumor: Â that there was a guy that would come out of the shadows and polish off any defeated Stahr Power wrestler that was losing too much and giving the group a bad name.
Fresh, technically still a Stahr Power member, is sent for: Ghost arrives and cleans the Kidd’s clock. But this time, after almost an hour of being dominated, Fresh WINS! He’s able to wriggle off of Ghost’s shoulders as he’s being carried away and his superkick connects and knocks Ghost OUT COLD.
But you’re not supposed to fight the cleaner. Â You can be sure that Ghost is not done with Fresh. But whatever Ghost has waiting for him, one thing is for certain: the Kidd will fight tooth and nail to the very end.
If Fresh can survive this, who knows what the future might hold. Kidd Fresh has earned the respect of every fan the hard way and we will all watch with interest to see how he handles Stahr Power’s attempt to cancel his contract.
